Generally, the first Apostolic Church was formed in 1916 as a result of the 1904 Welsh revival. However, we took the bold step in 2014 to form the Apostolic Church North America with the focus of confronting racial segregation in churches. Though we are African immigrants, we must not worship God in segregated congregations. We all have noticed that the church today is one of the most racially segregated communities in the world. We believe that Jesus Christ did not intend that we worship Him in a segregated congregation. Our primary focus is to bring all races together to worship our Lord Jesus Christ. The Apostolic Church North America is a Trinitarian, Pentecostal denomination with a strong five-fold ministry. Ephesians 4:12-13 tells us that the purpose of the five-fold ministry is “to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” Since we, the body of Christ definitely are not built up to unity in the faith and have not attained to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ, the offices of apostles and prophets must still be in effect. To attain that unity, our first step is to work to create a church environment where racial differences will not hinder our worship of God. We hope to achieve this goal through our outreach relationships, affiliations, and missions. We intend to encourage authentic Christian communities in North America, irrespective of race and national origins.
